This 80’s classic is enjoying its Miso Tasty moment!

Miso mayo is deep and moreish and brings out the rich egginess of fresh mayonnaise. Paired with juicy prawns and salad, this is a simple miso twist that celebrates the Original. This miso mayo is also fantastic on chips, in sandwiches and in potato salads too.

Prawn Cocktail With Miso Mayonnaise Recipe - Miso Tasty

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • King prawns with heads on
  • Gem lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • 1 egg and 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp white Miso Paste
  • 1.5 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Salt


  1. Simply simmer or steam the king prawns for 5-8mins until they turn pink then leave to cool.
  2. In a blender, blend the egg, egg yolk, white miso and lemon juice to combine.
  3. Slowly pour in the oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Chop the gem lettuce and tomatoes into small bite sized pieces and put them in a bowl.
  5. Mix in the miso mayonnaise until all the salad ingredients are covered.
  6. Divide into two desert/cocktail glasses or bowls and present the king prawns on top. Drizzle a little more miso mayo on the prawns too if you like!
